(SINL NIGERIA) As part of ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and banditry across the North-West region, troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force (North West) Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued seven kidnapped victims and foiled coordinated abduction attempts in Katsina and Zamfara states.
SINL NIgeria Online reports that the successful operations were conducted under the ongoing search-and-rescue campaign aimed at dismantling terrorist networks and restoring security in affected communities.
According to a statement on Wednesday by the Media Information Officer of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, troops on June 16 intensified offensive operations against terrorist enclaves in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State under Operation CLEAN SWEEP 3.
The operation, which built on the recent rescue of the wife of the late Major General Rabe Abubakar, targeted a known terrorist hideout in Fafu Village.
The statement said the terrorists were overwhelmed by the troops’ superior firepower and aggressive assault, forcing them to abandon their camp and flee the area.
“As troops cleared the camp, four kidnapped victims were rescued. The victims are currently receiving medical attention for injuries sustained during their captivity,” the statement noted.
In a related operation in Zamfara State, troops deployed to Zurmi Local Government Area thwarted a kidnapping attempt after receiving a distress call about terrorists who had infiltrated Zurmi town with the intention of abducting residents.
The troops swiftly mobilized and engaged the terrorists in a fierce gun battle, compelling them to abandon their mission and retreat.
“Following a thorough clearance operation, three abducted victims were rescued and safely reunited with their families”.
Operation FANSAN YAMMA said the latest successes reflect its unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property across the North-West.
The task force reaffirmed its resolve to sustain offensive operations against terrorists and bandits, denying them freedom of action and ensuring the restoration of lasting peace and normalcy in affected communities.
The statement emphasized that troops would continue to intensify efforts to track down criminal elements and secure vulnerable communities across the region.
