The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has commenced the rehabilitation of four transmission towers vandalised along the Afam-IPP-Elelenwo 132kV Double-Circuit Transmission Line.
TCN said the vandalism was discovered on August 6, 2026, by its lines engineers from the Port Harcourt Region.
This was contained in a statement on Monday signed by the Management of TCN.
According to the company, Towers T50, T51, T52 and T53 were affected after their tower members were removed and carted away by vandals.
The company noted that the incident marked the fifth vandalism attack on the transmission line in recent times.
Continuing, TCN said rehabilitation work was ongoing to restore the affected infrastructure, while urging stakeholders and members of the public to support efforts to curb transmission infrastructure vandalism.
Meanwhile, it warned that the continued destruction of critical power infrastructure poses a threat to the stability of the national grid.
