The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Benin Sub-Region, has arrested a 24-year-old suspected vandal for allegedly tampering with a marshalling kiosk at its 330kV switchyard.
The suspect, identified as Mr Wisdom Amaunam from Erediauwa Community, was apprehended at about 10:00am on Thursday, October 22, 2026, by a TCN security officer during a routine patrol.
He was reportedly caught removing cables and wires from the marshalling kiosk within the transmission facility.
Following his arrest, the suspect was handed over to the Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI) Unit of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for further investigation.
TCN said Amaunam remained in custody pending the conclusion of investigations and possible arraignment.
The company commended its security personnel and the NSCDC for their vigilance and collaboration in protecting critical national power infrastructure.
It reiterated its zero-tolerance policy towards vandalism, trespassing and sabotage, warning that such activities pose a threat to the stability and security of the nation’s electricity transmission network.
TCN also urged host communities and members of the public to report suspicious activities around transmission installations to security agencies or the nearest TCN office.
