TCN Announces Power Outage in Suleja, Lists Affected Communities

News

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a scheduled two-day power interruption in Suleja and parts of Niger State to enable maintenance work on its transmission substation.

In a statement on Thursday, TCN said its maintenance crew would carry out work on the 7.5MVA, 132/11kV Transformer 1 at the Suleja 132/33kV Transmission Substation from 9:00am on Thursday, November 5, to 4:00pm on Friday, November 6, 2026.

The company explained that the exercise would involve decommissioning and replacing the transformer’s existing primary circuit breaker with a new unit.

TCN said the maintenance would prevent the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) from receiving electricity for onward distribution to customers in NNPC, Meter Works, Gawaraka, Minna Road, Dikko, Madalla, Tungan Maje, Dakwa, Suleja and surrounding communities throughout the period.

It added that customers in Jere, Tara, Sabon Wuse and neighbouring areas would experience a temporary power interruption lasting approximately 90 minutes to allow the movement and positioning of a HIAB crane required for the maintenance exercise.

The company however apologised to electricity consumers in the affected areas for the inconvenience caused by the planned interruption.
