(SINL NIGERIA) The House of Representatives has scheduled an Emergency Sitting for Monday, June 15, 2026, to consider a proposed amendment aimed at extending the implementation period of the capital component of the 2025 budget.
According to a notice issued by the Acting Clerk of the House, Ibrahim Sidi, the sitting will commence at 11:00 a.m. and is being convened pursuant to Order Five, Rule 2(2) of the Standing Orders of the House of Representatives.
SINL NIgeria Online reports that the primary agenda of the emergency session is the consideration of the Appropriation (Repeal and Enactment) Act, 2025 (Amendment) (No. 2) Bill, 2026, which seeks to further extend the implementation of the capital aspect of the 2025 Appropriation Act from June 30 to September 30, 2026.
The proposed extension is expected to provide additional time for the execution of ongoing capital projects captured in the budget and ensure improved utilization of appropriated funds.
The terse notice directed all members of the House to accord the sitting priority attendance in view of the importance of the legislation under consideration.
