(SINL NIGERIA) The Senator representing Benue South Senatorial District and Senate Minority Leader, Abba Patrick Moro, has formally declared his intention to seek re-election, purchasing his Expression of Interest and Nomination Form at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) State Secretariat in Makurdi, Benue State.
Addressing members of the State Working Committee, party stakeholders, and supporters on Friday, Moro emphasized his commitment to sustaining quality representation in the Senate while working toward the success of all PDP candidates in the forthcoming elections.
The lawmaker, who described himself as the first senatorial aspirant to personally obtain the form, said his action was a demonstration of seriousness and dedication to the electoral process.
“I am excited to pick the form as the first senatorial aspirant. I came to buy it myself, not through a proxy, to show that we are serious,” he stated.
Moro also expressed optimism about the PDP’s prospects ahead of the 2027 general elections, declaring that the party would reclaim power in Benue State.
He congratulated party members on what he described as a recent judicial victory, noting that earlier doubts about the PDP’s ability to field candidates had been dispelled.
“Naysayers and pessimists said we wouldn’t have a platform to contest elections, but today, we are contesting on the platform of the PDP, and that alone calls for celebration, aside from the victories that await us in 2027,” he said.
The senator encouraged party members who were unsuccessful in securing nominations to remain hopeful and steadfast, stressing the importance of resilience in politics.
“It is painful to lose a nomination or election, but it’s not about how many times you fall; what matters is your ability to rise again,” he added.
Reaffirming his commitment to the PDP and his constituency, Moro pledged to work tirelessly for the party’s victory across all levels, particularly in Benue South, which he described as a stronghold of the PDP.
“I will fight for myself and other PDP flag bearers to win our elections for our party. Zone C is the home of the PDP, and we shall demonstrate that in the forthcoming general elections,” he said.
He assured constituents of continued effective representation and vowed not to disappoint the people of Benue South.
