(SINL NIGERIA) The spokesperson of the Nigerian Senate, Yemi Adaramodu, has emerged victorious in the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary election for Ekiti South Senatorial District after polling 12,200 votes to clinch the party’s ticket ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Adaramodu secured victory in what political observers described as a fiercely contested and high-profile primary, defeating two prominent contenders within the party.
Former Senate Minority Leader, Biodun Olujimi, came second with 7,420 votes, while former member of the House of Representatives, Bamidele Faparusi, garnered 5,502 votes.
The exercise, held across the Ekiti South Senatorial District, attracted widespread attention due to the calibre of aspirants involved and the strategic importance of the district within the APC political structure in Ekiti State.
Announcing the results at the end of the exercise, the Chairman of the APC Primary Election Committee, Adedoyin, said the process was conducted in strict compliance with the constitution of the party as well as laid-down electoral guidelines.
According to him, Adaramodu satisfied all constitutional and party requirements and emerged with the highest number of lawful votes cast by delegates during the primary election.
He added that the outcome reflected the confidence and overwhelming support the Senate spokesman enjoys among APC delegates and stakeholders across the senatorial district.
“With the total votes recorded, Senator Yemi Adaramodu is hereby declared the winner of the APC senatorial primary election for Ekiti South Senatorial District and returned as the duly elected candidate of the party for the forthcoming senatorial election,” Adedoyin announced.
The victory is widely seen as a major political milestone for Adaramodu and a significant consolidation of his growing influence within the APC in Ekiti State.
Analysts believe his triumph over experienced political figures such as Olujimi and Faparusi further strengthens his standing ahead of the 2027 general elections, while also reaffirming his acceptance among party loyalists in the district.
The primary election outcome has already generated reactions within political circles in the state, with supporters describing the contest as a reflection of internal party democracy and the competitive nature of the APC in Ekiti South.
