Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued three kidnapped victims following a distress call over terrorist activities along the Dandume-Sheme Road in Dandume Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The operation was conducted on Thursday, after local residents alerted security forces to the presence of terrorists along the road.
Acting on the information, the troops, in collaboration with personnel of the Nigeria Police, swiftly mobilised to the area and engaged the terrorists.
The terrorists, overwhelmed by the superior firepower of the security forces, fled into the surrounding bush, abandoning their victims.
A subsequent search of the area led to the rescue of three kidnapped victims and the recovery of two vehicles reportedly used by the terrorists.
The rescued victims and recovered vehicles were later handed over to the Divisional Police Officer, Dandume, for further action.
Meanwhile, troops have intensified patrols and surveillance across the area to prevent the terrorists from regrouping and deny them freedom of action.
The Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, said the successful operation demonstrated the troops’ resolve to protect the lives and property of law-abiding citizens within the Joint Operations Area.
Danja commended residents for their continued support and urged the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest security outpost.
