News

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a six-hour power disruption in parts of Abuja and neighbouring communities on Saturday, October 31, 2026, due to scheduled maintenance at its Katampe Transmission Substation.

TCN said its maintenance crew would carry out scheduled maintenance on the 150MVA Power Transformer 2 and associated switchgear at the Katampe 330/132/33kV Transmission Substation between 9am and 4pm.

In a notice issued on Friday, October 30, 2026, the company said the exercise would affect the ability of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) to receive electricity for onward distribution to customers in the affected areas.

The affected communities include Kubwa PW, Dutse Makaranta, Ushafa, Jere, Jiwa, parts of Suleja, Kaduna Road, Sabon Wuse, Dikko, Zuba, Madalla, Dakwa and Tugan Maje.

TCN explained that electricity supply to the affected areas would be interrupted for approximately six hours during the maintenance exercise.

The company however apologised to electricity consumers in the affected communities for the inconvenience the planned maintenance might cause.
