The Rivers State governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 general election, Rt. Hon. Ogundu Kingsley Chinda, has pledged to govern the state with the fear of God if elected into office on May 29, 2027.

Chinda made the pledge during the unveiling of candidates of the political coalition at Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Elekahia, Port Harcourt, where party faithful and supporters gathered in large numbers.

He expressed confidence that candidates presented under the coalition would emerge victorious in the 2027 elections and work together to form a government committed to unity, peace and development.

The APC candidate said his administration would promote inclusiveness and reject rancour, division and entitlement politics, stressing that collective responsibility was essential to the progress of Rivers State.

Chinda also commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for spearheading the rainbow coalition initiative, describing it as a demonstration of political ingenuity and bipartisan cooperation.

According to him, the initiative has brought together structures from seven political parties under a common platform to secure the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, support his governorship ambition and ensure victory for other coalition candidates contesting various elective positions.

He said the coalition’s philosophy was rooted in peace, unity and political cohesion, which he described as essential conditions for sustainable development in the state.

Earlier, party leaders highlighted the benefits they said Rivers State had received under the Tinubu administration, including federal appointments, the establishment of a Federal University of Environment and the completion of the Bonny-Bodo Road project.

They argued that the appointments and infrastructure projects demonstrated the Federal Government’s commitment to the state and called on residents to support Tinubu’s re-election bid.

Incumbent Governor Siminalayi Fubara also attended the event, where he presented flags to coalition candidates and expressed support for their political aspirations.

Fubara told the gathering that Rivers State had one political leader, Wike, a declaration that reinforced the coalition’s call for political unity ahead of the 2027 elections.

Wike, who energised the crowd with his characteristic dance moves to musical performances, urged Rivers residents to vote for Tinubu, Chinda and all candidates endorsed by the coalition.

He also appealed to Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidates across the country to support Tinubu’s re-election, insisting that the coalition’s success depended on a collective commitment to delivering electoral victory for its candidates.
