(SINL NIGERIA) The Director-General of National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa, has formally received the Nigeria Government Enterprise Architecture (NGEA) Portal, signaling a major step forward in the country’s digital transformation drive.
The handover ceremony, held at the Continental Hotel Abuja on Thursday, marked the culmination of a strategic partnership between Nigeria and the Republic of Korea, with support from the Korea International Cooperation Agency.
Represented by the Director of Corporate Planning and Strategy, Dr. Dimie Warowei, Inuwa described the event as a significant achievement under Nigeria’s e-Government Masterplan 2.0.
He noted that the NGEA initiative, which commenced in late 2022, is designed to modernize public sector digital infrastructure through integrated systems and standardized frameworks across government institutions.
According to him, Nigerian and Korean experts have, over the past two and a half years, collaborated to review and upgrade the country’s enterprise architecture framework.
The result is a revised structure aimed at improving interoperability, efficiency, and alignment with national development priorities.
The project also delivered key reference models, including Technology, Business, and Service models, to guide implementation across ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs).
Additional Data and Performance Reference Models are expected to further strengthen the framework.
Pilot programmes were carried out in major government institutions such as the National Identity Management Commission, Nigeria Customs Service, Nigeria Immigration Service, and NITDA. These agencies benefited from capacity-building initiatives and tailored digital transformation roadmaps.
Inuwa also highlighted the role of Qorebox Technologies Limited, which deployed the supporting infrastructure hosted within the facilities of Galaxy Backbone, alongside a two-year maintenance plan to ensure system stability.
He emphasised that the NGEA Portal is more than just a digital platform, describing it as a foundation for a coordinated, efficient, and citizen-focused government.
“The successful implementation of enterprise architecture across government will help reduce duplication, improve interoperability, and enhance service delivery,” he said.
In his remarks, the Country Director of KOICA, Mr. Eunsub Kim, commended NITDA for its leadership and reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to supporting Nigeria’s digital transformation efforts.
Similarly, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Engr. Nadungu Gagare—represented by Mr. Johnson Bareyei—described the NGEA Portal as a shift from fragmented digital initiatives to a unified national framework.
He noted that the development aligns with the ministry’s transformation agenda under the leadership of Bosun Tijani.
SINL NIgeria Online reports that the handover marks the beginning of a new phase, with NITDA set to oversee the operational management and long-term sustainability of the platform, as Nigeria continues its push toward a more digitally driven public sector.
