(SINL NIGERIA) As part of efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s counter-terrorism campaign and enhance national security, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) and the Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have pledged to deepen collaboration in strategic communication.
The commitment was made on Monday when the Director of Public Relations and Information of the Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, paid a courtesy visit to the Headquarters of Operation HADIN KAI in Maiduguri, Borno State.
Welcoming the delegation, the Theatre Commander, Operation HADIN KAI, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, described strategic communication as a vital pillar of modern military operations, saying effective messaging is crucial to winning public confidence and denying terrorists the opportunity to dominate the information space.
He noted that coordinated communication among security agencies helps shape public perception, counter terrorist propaganda, combat misinformation, and reinforce confidence in ongoing military operations.
Abubakar also commended the Nigerian Air Force for its professionalism and sustained support to joint operations in the North-East.
Speaking during the visit, Air Commodore Ejodame stressed the need for stronger synergy among the Armed Forces and other security agencies in projecting a unified national security narrative.
He said harmonised communication, sustained media engagement, and the prompt dissemination of accurate and credible information are critical to countering misinformation and disinformation while strengthening public trust.
According to him, the visit was aimed at enhancing collaboration between the Nigerian Air Force and Operation HADIN KAI in promoting timely, accurate, and coordinated communication on military operations and other security issues.
The two senior officers reaffirmed their commitment to using strategic communication as a force multiplier in the fight against terrorism, stressing that proactive media engagement and inter-agency cooperation remain essential to consolidating operational successes, strengthening civil-military relations, and supporting lasting peace and stability in the North-East.
The visit was attended by the Air Component Commander, Operation HADIN KAI, Air Commodore Buba Ahmed; the Chief of Staff, Headquarters OPHK, Brigadier General Sani Ahmed; component commanders, principal staff officers, and other senior military officers.
