The National Legal Adviser of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Barrister Murtala Aliyu Kankia, has commended Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umar Radda, for his commitment to the development of sports in the state.
This comes as Kankia also praised the Emir of Katsina, His Royal Highness, Dr Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, for his efforts towards preserving the historical and cultural heritage of the emirate.
The APC chieftain made the remarks while extending goodwill to participants and stakeholders in the 2026 polo season in Katsina, wishing the players safe and successful competitions.
He said Governor Radda’s support for sports was helping to sustain sporting activities in the state while creating opportunities for athletes to develop and showcase their talents.
According to him, investment in sports goes beyond competition, as the sector plays an important role in youth development, discipline, unity and positive engagement.
Kankia said sustained investment in sporting activities could also contribute to tourism, community development and the overall visibility of Katsina State.
He similarly commended the Katsina monarch for preserving the traditions and historical values associated with the emirate, describing cultural heritage as a shared responsibility that must be safeguarded for future generations.
He noted that the combination of sports development and cultural preservation could strengthen the identity of Katsina State while ensuring that its heritage remains relevant to younger generations.
The APC National Legal Adviser urged participants in the 2026 polo competitions to uphold the principles of sportsmanship and fair play, while wishing all players safe matches and a successful season.
Kankia said continued support for sports, alongside the preservation of historical and cultural values, would contribute significantly to the development of Katsina State and enhance its profile as a destination for sporting and cultural activities.
