APC Primaries: Chinda Wins Rivers Governorship Ticket Unopposed

(SINL NIGERIA) Former Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Kingsley Chinda has emerged the gubernatorial flag bearer of the All progressives Congress ( APC) in Rivers state.

Declaring him winner, chairman of the APC gubernatorial and house of assembly primaries committee, Rt. Hon. Laori Kwamoti declared that Mr. Kingsley Chinda scored 268,497 valid vote cast to clinch the ticket having satisfied the constitutional requirements and party regulations.

In a statement by his press secretary, Ekesunnie Caleb, Hon. Ogundu Kingsley Chinda ran as a sole candidate as other candidates either withdrew from the race or stepped down.

Earlier in the day, he participated by voting at his Elelenwo hometown where there was mammoth crowd of party men who voted overwhelmingly for him.

He promised to govern with the fear of God and respect for rule of law while upholding accountability in governance.

He thanked those who stepped from the race for contributing to the beauty of the process as well as the political leaders who found him worthy while expressing gratitude to the All progressives Congress for support and promised to run an all- inclusive government in line with his theme of ‘ I win, you win’ .

According to him, ‘ it is going to be a teamwork. My theme has always been I win, you win. The party is going to sit down and chart the course and process moving forward’, he said.
