(SINL NIGERIA) The Theatre Commander of the Joint Task Force, Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, has reaffirmed the military’s commitment to strengthening security operations in Nigeria’s North-East.
This followed a three-day operational assessment visit to Adamawa State, a statement by Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba said
The visit, which took place from April 30 to May 2, 2026, focused on evaluating the operational readiness of Sector 4 and enhancing collaboration with the Adamawa State Government to address emerging security challenges.
During a courtesy visit to the Government House in Yola, the Deputy Governor of Adamawa State, Professor Kaletapwa George Farauta, who represented Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, commended the military for its sustained efforts in maintaining peace despite recent setbacks.
She reiterated the state government’s commitment to supporting security operations through investments in human capital, technology, and infrastructure.
Farauta also highlighted the critical role of local security actors, including vigilantes, hunters, and forest guards, describing them as essential partners in intelligence gathering and community protection.
“Adamawa State remains committed to maintaining its status as a safe haven. We will continue to invest in human capital, technology, and security infrastructure to support ongoing operations and enhance safety across the state,” she said.
In his remarks, Major General Abubakar explained that the visit was part of a broader strategy to reassess operations, address emerging threats, and strengthen coordination across the theatre of operations.
He noted that Sector 4, established in August 2025, was created to bridge security gaps between Southern Borno and Northern Adamawa, covering 10 local government areas across approximately 16,000 square kilometres of challenging terrain.
The Theatre Commander disclosed that the military has adopted a multi-layered operational strategy that combines troop deployment, advanced surveillance technology, and community engagement to tackle insecurity in the region.
He further revealed that Defence and Army Headquarters have intensified efforts by deploying special forces, providing critical combat equipment, and training local security groups to act as first responders in remote communities. Additionally, new military formations have been approved to boost operational presence in the state.
Addressing troops and local security stakeholders in Mubi and Tella Balla in Gombi Local Government Area, Abubakar urged increased vigilance, warning that ongoing offensives in other sectors could push insurgents into new areas.
He stressed the need for improved intelligence gathering, protection of vulnerable communities, and identification of collaborators aiding terrorist elements.
The visit also featured inspection of the Quarter Guard, operational briefings, interactive sessions with troops, and engagements with local security groups.
It concluded with the signing of the visitors’ register and presentation of souvenirs.
Major General Abubakar was accompanied by the Commander of Sector 4, Brigadier General Amaechi Agwu, alongside other senior military officers and principal staff of the Theatre Command.
SINL Nigeria Online reports that the assessment visit is part of ongoing efforts by Operation HADIN KAI to reinforce security strategies and ensure lasting peace and stability across the North-East region.
