(SINL NIGERIA) The Theatre Command of Operation HADIN KAI has dismissed recent social media reports alleging poor feeding conditions among troops in the North East, describing the claims as misleading and inaccurate.
In a statement issued on May 1, 2026, the Headquarters of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, said it conducted a thorough internal review following the circulation of images and narratives suggesting inadequate welfare provisions for soldiers.
According to the statement signed by the Media Information Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, the findings revealed that the reports do not reflect the actual feeding arrangements within the theatre of operations.
The Command stressed that troops deployed across all formations are provided with rations in line with approved military feeding standards.
It added that these provisions are consistently implemented and are often enhanced during festive periods such as Sallah and Easter to boost morale.
Explaining further, the Command noted that the feeding system is structured and transparent, managed through Food Committees made up of personnel from different ranks and supervised by senior non-commissioned officers. This, it said, ensures accountability and active participation in meal planning and distribution.
The review also uncovered a specific case involving a soldier who allegedly circulated a misleading image of a partially consumed meal to create a false impression. The Command clarified that the image did not represent the full ration issued at the time.
It added that appropriate disciplinary action has been taken against the personnel in line with the Armed Forces Act to maintain discipline and uphold the integrity of the military.
Reassuring the public, the Theatre Command emphasized that the welfare of troops remains a top priority despite the operational and logistical challenges in the North East.
It urged personnel to use internal channels to address grievances rather than resorting to actions that could misrepresent operational realities.
The Command also called on the public to disregard unverified information on social media and rely on credible sources, warning that the spread of misinformation could undermine military operations and national security efforts.
Operation HADIN KAI reaffirmed its commitment to restoring peace, security, and stability in the North East, while maintaining high standards of welfare, discipline, and operational effectiveness among its personnel.
