The Director General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, will deliver the 2026 annual reunion lecture of Obafemi Awolowo University Muslim Graduates Association (UNIFEMGA) in Ile-Ife, Osun State on Saturday May 9, 2026.
The three-day event, slated for May 8 to May 10, 2026, will take place at the Oduduwa Hall of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife.
According to a statement jointly signed by the Chairman of the Planning Committee, Prof. Sirajudeen Obayopo, and the Public Relations Officer, Ibraheem Fagbenro, Issa-Onilu will deliver a lecture on the theme, “The Potentials Within Nigeria.”
The organisers said the conference aims to convene distinguished alumni, professionals, policymakers, and thought leaders to explore Nigeria’s untapped opportunities and chart a pathway for sustainable national development.
They added that the event will feature a wide range of activities designed to promote intellectual discourse, networking, and community engagement.
The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Matrix Energy Limited, Alhaji Abdulkabir Adisa Aliu, is expected to chair the occasion, while the Vice Chancellor of OAU, Prof. Adebayo Simeon Bamire, will attend as Special Guest. The Chairman of UNIFEMGA Board of Trustees, Alhaji AbdulRafiu Ebiti, will serve as Chief Host.
Other prominent personalities expected at the event include Prof. Yusuf Olaolu Ali (SAN), the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Egbewole (SAN), Prof. Musa Aibinu of Summit University, Offa, Prof. Akeem Lasisi of the Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila-Orangun, and Prof. Abubakar Sanusi, Chief Imam of OAU, among others.
Highlights of the reunion include a Jumu’ah service, a courtesy visit to the Vice Chancellor, and a royal visit to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi. A networking dinner featuring the UNIFEMGA Investors Forum 3.0 will also be held, providing entrepreneurs an opportunity to pitch business ideas to potential investors.
The statement noted that the Investors’ Forum is modelled after the popular television show Dragons’ Den and will include a panel session on building value-driven enterprises in Nigeria.
Other activities lined up for the reunion include a welcome reception, student picnic, scholarship presentations, Annual General Meeting (AGM), student empowerment programmes, medical outreach, fitness exercises, and novelty matches among branches.
Describing the reunion as a flagship event of the association, the organisers said the 2026 edition will focus on harnessing Nigeria’s human, economic, and technological resources, with particular emphasis on youth empowerment, innovation, and nation-building.
Speaking ahead of the event, the National President of UNIFEMGA, Alhaji Mohammed Buari, said the conference is a call for collective action.
“Nigeria is endowed with immense resources and talent. This conference is a call to action for all well-meaning Nigerians to look inward, collaborate and unlock the vast potential that lies within our nation,” he said.
Over 300 delegates, including participants from the diaspora, have already registered for the conference, which is expected to foster unity and progressive engagement among members and stakeholders.
