Troops of the Joint Task Force, North East, Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have arrested four suspected Boko Haram terrorists following a night ambush in Yobe State.
SINL NIgeria Online reports that the military also said 11 terrorists surrendered to the troops, while nine suspected drug dealers were arrested between September 15 and 22, 2026.
The operations also led to the recovery of a vehicle, ammunition and other logistics items as troops continued efforts to disrupt terrorist activities across the North-East.
The four suspected terrorists were arrested after troops of 27 Task Force Brigade, in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force, laid an ambush east of Azare Village in Gujba Local Government Area at about 11pm on Monday.
According to a statement by the Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Captain Mohammed Goni, the troops engaged the suspected terrorists in a firefight before exploiting the area.
He said blood traces found at the scene indicated that some of the fleeing terrorists might have sustained casualties.
“Items recovered during the operation included four bicycles, a large quantity of groceries, one sheep and expended 7.62mm Special ammunition cases”.
Continuing, the statement said the suspects and recovered items have been taken into military custody for further investigation, while troops continue to exploit the area.
In a separate operation, troops arrested nine suspected drug dealers during a routine patrol in Buni Yadi, also in Gujba LGA, on September 19.
The suspects were allegedly found with a large quantity of suspected illicit drugs and cannabis, two mobile phones and ₦85,900 cash.
The military said the suspects were subsequently handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency for further investigation and prosecution.
It added that the latest operational successes, including the surrender of 11 terrorists and recovery of a vehicle, ammunition and other logistics items, reflected the impact of sustained pressure on terrorist groups and their support networks.
Meanwhile, Operation HADIN KAI said it would continue operations aimed at disrupting terrorist and criminal networks and denying them freedom of action across the North-East.
