TCN Schedules Transformer Maintenance in Ijebu-Ode, Ijebu-Igbo

News

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has scheduled annual preventive maintenance on two 30MVA power transformers at its 132/33kV transmission substation in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, with temporary disruptions to electricity supply expected in some communities.

The maintenance exercise on the T1 and T2 transformers is scheduled for Thursday, October 8, and Friday, October 9, 2026, respectively, between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. each day.

TCN, in a notice issued on Thursday, said the maintenance would be carried out on one transformer per day to enable its engineers to conduct routine checks and servicing aimed at ensuring optimal performance and reliability.

The company explained that the exercise would affect the ability of the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) to receive electricity from the affected transformers during the maintenance periods.

According to the notice, maintenance on the T1 30MVA transformer on Thursday would affect electricity supply to Ijebu-Ode and Idowa.

Similarly, work on the T2 30MVA transformer on Friday is expected to disrupt electricity supply to Ijebu-Igbo and Barracks.

Meanwhile, TCN assured electricity consumers that bulk power supply would be restored through each transformer at the end of its scheduled maintenance.

The company apologised to residents and other electricity consumers in the affected areas for any inconvenience the exercise might cause.
