The Nigerian Navy has recovered approximately 80,000 litres of suspected stolen crude oil in two separate anti-crude oil theft operations in Delta State.
The Navy also arrested three suspected drug traffickers and seized illicit substances during a joint operation with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in the Warri area.
A statement by the Director of Naval Information, Commodore Abiodun Folarunsho, said personnel of NNS DELTA discovered a dugout reservoir containing about 30,000 litres of crude oil in the Oteghele general area on September 21, 2026.
He said another 50,000 litres of crude oil was recovered from a large dugout reservoir in the Obodo Amadino general area during a separate operation on September 23.
According to him, the recovered crude oil was handled in line with established procedures.
Folarunsho added that personnel of NNS DELTA, in collaboration with the NDLEA, conducted an operation against suspected illicit drug activities in Warri and its environs on September 22.
The operation led to the arrest of three suspects and the seizure of approximately 15 kilogrammes of Cannabis sativa, 0.5 gramme of cocaine and 0.5 gramme of methamphetamine, also known as crystal meth.
He said the suspects and recovered substances were subsequently handed over to the NDLEA for further investigation and necessary action.
The Director said the operations demonstrated the Navy’s continued efforts to tackle crude oil theft, illegal petroleum activities and illicit drug trafficking while strengthening inter-agency cooperation against criminal activities within its area of responsibility.
