Gov. Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has called on legal practitioners to prioritise quality service to clients for the betterment of the society.
Aiyedatiwa spoke in Abuja at a reception held in honour of a lawyer, Dr Darlington Ozurumba, following his conferment with the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).
He emphasised that quality service is fundamental to a flourishing legal career, urging the new senior advocate to maintain the standard.
“Give quality service to society,” he said, while advising Ozurumba to “continue to learn” to remain relevant in the field.
Gov. Alex Otti of Abia, in his letter to Ozurumba, celebrated his outstanding milestone.
Otti wished the lawyer continued distinction, greater professional fulfilment and many more accomplishments in the years ahead.
“May your elevation open the way to even greater opportunities to serve, inspire and contribute meaningfully to the growth of the legal profession in Nigeria and beyond,” the governor added.
Speaking to journalists, Ozurumba expressed gratitude to God and pledged to continue pursuing the cause of justice, including through pro bono litigation.
He encouraged young lawyers to remain hardworking and not be discouraged, adding that God was preparing every hardworking lawyer for something great in life.
There were hundreds of attendees at the event, including dignitaries such as Justice Obiora Egwatu of the Federal High Court in Abuja, former Gov. Rochas Okorocha of Imo and representatives of Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).
Ozurumba was among at least 68 legal practitioners conferred with the rank of SAN on Monday at the Supreme Court in Abuja.
Ozurumba is the principal counsel at Vibrant Chambers.
His elevation to the rank of SAN followed his outstanding legal practice across the country.
