Minister of Defence, Gen. Christopher Gwabin Musa (retd.), on Tuesday attended the opening session of the 81st United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) at the UN Headquarters in New York alongside Vice President Kashim Shettima, who led Nigeria’s delegation.
Following the opening session, Musa paid an operational visit to the Defence Section of Nigeria’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations.
The Minister received a briefing from the Defence Attaché, Brig.-Gen. E.A. Koleosho, on the section’s strategic activities and operational commitments.
Musa commended Koleosho and his team for what he described as their professionalism, loyalty and commitment to the ideals of the United Nations and the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
He also reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment, under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to restoring and expanding Nigeria’s active role in international peace and security efforts.
According to him, the administration is committed to strengthening Nigeria’s participation in peacekeeping operations around the world as part of efforts to promote global stability and security.
