Residents of Damaturu and surrounding communities are set to experience a four-hour power outage on Saturday, as the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) carries out scheduled maintenance on the Gombe-Damaturu-Molai 330kV Line 1.
TCN, in a statement on Friday, said the maintenance would take place from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
According to the company, the exercise is aimed at enabling its contractors to carry out work on the Power Line Carrier (PLC) system and rehabilitate the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system on the transmission line.
TCN explained that the maintenance would affect the ability of the Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) to off-take electricity to customers in Damaturu and its environs during the period.
The company apologised to electricity consumers in the affected areas for the inconvenience the planned exercise may cause.
