Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have recovered a large cache of high-calibre weapons, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and other logistics equipment during a successful offensive operation against members of the Lakurawa terrorist group in Kebbi State.
The operation, conducted on Sunday around the Dogon Daji general area of Dandi Local Government Area, was part of ongoing efforts to eliminate terrorist and criminal elements operating across the North-West region.
This was contained in a statement signed by Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 8 Division Nigerian Army/Sector 2 Operation FANSAN YAMMA.
According to military authorities, the troops brought superior firepower to bear on the terrorists during the operation, overwhelming them and forcing them to flee from their hideout.
“A follow-up pursuit along the terrorists’ withdrawal routes resulted in the recovery of a significant quantity of arms, explosives, and mobility equipment abandoned by the fleeing insurgents.
“Items recovered include Rocket-Propelled Grenade (RPG) launch tubes, several RPG warheads, multiple improvised explosive devices, two motorcycles used by the terrorists for movement, battery chargers, and various personal belongings”.
The military confirmed that no casualties were recorded among the troops during the operation.
The successful mission highlights the sustained efforts of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, to dismantle terrorist and bandit networks across the region and deny criminal elements freedom of operation.
Military authorities reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining offensive operations against terrorists and bandits to enhance security and protect law-abiding citizens throughout the North-West.
