(SINL NIGERIA) The National Chairman of the Nigerian Legion, Ms Grace Morenike Henry, has been conferred with the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Merit Award for Nation Building and inducted into the NANS Hall of Fame.
The award, according to a statement by Vet. A A Soaga-Adetoro Director, Corporate Affairs, Nigerian Legion was presented by NANS Vice President, Mr Mohammed Abdulrazaq, at the Legion’s Headquarters in Abuja.
He praised Ms Henry for her exemplary leadership, integrity, and unwavering dedication to public service and humanity.
Mr Abdulrazaq highlighted her outstanding efforts in advancing the welfare of veterans and their families through capacity building, vocational skills training, and humanitarian initiatives. “Her selfless service and remarkable contributions to humanitarian development have brought honour to the Nigerian Legion and positively impacted the nation,” he stated.
In her response, Ms Henry expressed gratitude to the NANS leadership for the honour, describing her induction into the Hall of Fame as a worthy recognition.
She also urged Nigerian students to avoid negative associations and social vices. “Negative associations, conversations, and influences can undermine good character and behavior,” she warned.
The Chairman encouraged students to remain mindful of their roots and uphold values of integrity and service in their pursuits.
The NANS delegation present at the event included the National Liaison Officer, Victor Obodo; NANS Ahmadu Bello University Zaria representatives, Amana Frank; NANS National Secretary, Paul Gajik, and NANS Deputy National Secretary, Danjuma Bulus Akolo.
Meanwhile, the National Chairman of the Nigerian Legion, Ms Grace Morenike Henry, has empowered the widow of late Colonel Godfrey Okechukwu Nebo (retired) with an industrial grinding machine and a cash gift.
The Secretary General, Nigerian Legion, Maj. Isah Yakubu (retired), and the Provost of Headquarters Nigerian Legion, Master Warrant Officer Toye Kudehinbu (retired), handed over the grinding machine and cash gift to Mrs Nebo on behalf of the Chairman at the Legion’s Headquarters, Abuja.
The humanitarian interventions by Ms Henry are deliberate efforts aimed at transforming the lives of widows of Nigerian Armed Forces fallen heroes.
