Troops of Sector 1, Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have neutralised a terrorist and recovered four motorcycles and other items during a dawn offensive operation in Dan Musa Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The operation was conducted on Friday following credible intelligence on the presence of terrorists around Yantumaki Forest.
According to a statement issued on Saturday by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, troops launched a coordinated offensive against the terrorists and engaged them with maximum firepower.
He said the terrorists were forced to flee into the surrounding bushes.
Danja said troops, while exploiting the area, confirmed the neutralisation of one terrorist and recovered four motorcycles, one mobile phone and five empty intravenous drip containers suspected to have been used to treat wounded terrorists.
He said the operation further demonstrated the commitment of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to sustaining pressure on terrorist networks, degrading their operational capabilities and denying them freedom of action across the Joint Operations Area.
The task force urged the public to continue providing security agencies with relevant and timely information to support ongoing efforts to eradicate terrorist elements within the Joint Operations Area.
