Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have arrested a suspected terrorist in Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State while intensifying clearance and air interdiction operations against terrorist hideouts in Zamfara State.

The suspect, identified as Auta Maikyala, was arrested on November 5, 2026, during an intelligence-led operation conducted by troops of Sector 1 in collaboration with operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS).

He was reportedly apprehended at a hospital in Kagarko town, where he had gone to seek medical attention for a gunshot wound sustained during an encounter with a rival faction.

Preliminary investigations indicated that Maikyala was allegedly involved in several attacks on communities, kidnapping and cattle rustling operations.

The suspect is currently in custody for further investigation and prosecution.

In a related development, troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have intensified clearance operations in Zamfara State to neutralise terrorists and dismantle their hideouts.

During the operations on November 5, troops cleared suspected terrorist locations in Aljummu Hausa, Aljummu Fulani and Tunga Magaji villages in Maradun Local Government Area.

The operations reportedly led to the clearance of several terrorist hideouts, restricting the activities of criminal elements and improving security in the affected communities.

Similarly, the Air Component of the Nigerian Air Force conducted air interdiction operations against identified terrorist locations suspected to be associated with wanted terrorist kingpin, Dogo Gide, in Babban Doka and Kuyumbana Forest in Maru Local Government Area.

The air operations followed credible intelligence that terrorists were assembling in the locations to plan and coordinate criminal activities.

Troops are currently maintaining dominance over the general area.

The Acting Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Captain Tamuno Sinivie, disclosed these developments in a statement issued on Friday, November 6.

He said Operation FANSAN YAMMA would sustain its operational tempo and aggressive posture to protect lives and property across its joint operations area.

The military urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information on suspected terrorists and their activities to support ongoing security operations.
