The Tinubu Media Support Group (TMSG) has dismissed claims that the President Bola Tinubu administration has neglected Northern Nigeria in the distribution of infrastructure projects and development initiatives.

The group said the North had benefited significantly from the administration through major infrastructure projects, strategic appointments and interventions across critical sectors.

In a statement signed by its Chairman, Emeka Nwankpa, and Secretary, Dapo Okubanjo, TMSG said the administration had not only sustained projects inherited from the Muhammadu Buhari administration but had also initiated several legacy projects across the region.

The group cited the $2.8 billion, 614-kilometre Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) gas pipeline as one of the major projects recording significant progress under Tinubu.

According to TMSG, the project had reached about 95 per cent completion as of August 2026, following efforts to remove bottlenecks that had delayed its implementation.

It said the AKK pipeline was designed to supply gas to industrial clusters in Northern Nigeria and support economic revitalisation along the Ajaokuta-Kano corridor.

The group also listed the Kaduna-Kano railway and Kano-Maradi railway projects among major infrastructure schemes progressing under the administration.

It said the Kaduna-Kano rail line was expected to be completed in December 2026, while sections of the Kano-Maradi project, including the 284-kilometre Kano-Daura-Katsina section, were also expected to be commissioned in December.

TMSG said the final section of the railway linking Nigeria with Maradi in Niger Republic was scheduled for completion in 2027.

On projects initiated by the Tinubu administration, the group described the 1,068-kilometre Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway as one of the largest projects undertaken by the administration.

It said the highway was designed as a trans-regional economic corridor linking Sokoto, Kebbi, Niger, Kwara, Oyo and Lagos states, with construction ongoing on several sections.

The group also cited the reconstruction of the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano dual carriageway using reinforced concrete pavement technology, as well as the Akwanga-Jos-Bauchi-Gombe road reconstruction.

According to TMSG, more projects are ongoing across Northern Nigeria, including healthcare infrastructure and upgrades at major facilities such as Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Zaria, and more than 1,000 primary healthcare centres.

It further said the Federal Government had approved more than N2 trillion for intra-city light rail projects in Kano and Kaduna as part of efforts to modernise transportation in the region.

The group also pointed to the North East Development Commission (NEDC), which it said was executing projects worth more than N1.5 trillion across the North-East.

TMSG maintained that similar interventions were being implemented by other development commissions in Northern Nigeria.

The group urged Northerners to disregard claims that the Tinubu administration had abandoned the region, describing such assertions as politically motivated and misleading.

It said available records of ongoing infrastructure and development projects contradicted allegations of neglect of Northern Nigeria by the Federal Government.
