TCN Announces Planned Power Outage in Nsukka

News

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a planned power outage at the Nsukka–New Haven 132kV Transmission Substation from November 5 to 10, 2026, to enable its contractor to conduct Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) pre-commissioning tests on substation equipment.

TCN said the exercise would be carried out in phases over a four-day period, with electricity interruptions limited to areas directly affected by the work at any given time.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the company explained that other areas would continue to receive bulk electricity supply throughout the exercise.

It, however, clarified that there would be no outage on Sunday, November 8, and Tuesday, November 10, as the work progresses.

According to TCN, MainPower Electricity Distribution Limited (MEDL) will be unable to supply electricity to customers served by the Nsukka 132kV Substation, the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, as well as the Orba and Sumas 33kV feeders on the affected days.

The company apologised to customers in the affected areas for the inconvenience the planned maintenance exercise might cause.
