The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has scheduled emergency repairs on the Apo–Karu 132kV transmission line following a fault that disrupted electricity supply to Karu Transmission Substation.
According to TCN, the fault occurred at 5:31 p.m. on Monday, October 12, 2026, after the transmission line tripped, resulting in a loss of power supply to the substation.
TCN, in a statement on Tuesday, said its engineers identified a cut jumper on the yellow phase at Tower T2 during a physical inspection of the line.
The company said its maintenance crew would carry out urgent repairs on Tuesday to restore the transmission line to service.
The incident has affected electricity distribution to customers in Karu, Nyanya, Kugbo, Jikwoyi, Kurudu, Orozo, Karshi, Mararaba and adjoining areas.
According to TCN, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has been unable to supply electricity to the affected communities due to the disruption.
The transmission company apologised to electricity consumers in the affected areas for the inconvenience caused by the outage.
