The Ministry of Defence has rewarded six staff members for their outstanding performance and commitment to excellent service delivery as part of activities marking the 2026 Customer Service Week.
The Director overseeing the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Mrs Bosede Olaniyi, presented the rewards on Thursday, during the closing ceremony of the week-long celebration at the Ministry’s headquarters, Ship House, Abuja.
Olaniyi reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to professionalism, excellence and efficient service delivery, describing the recognition as an incentive to promote higher standards of performance among personnel.
She commended the recipients for their contributions, noting that excellence in service delivery remained essential to the effective discharge of the Ministry’s mandate.
According to her, the ceremony provided an opportunity to celebrate personnel who had demonstrated exceptional dedication, professionalism and commitment to their responsibilities.
She urged staff members to uphold the core values of integrity, efficiency, accountability and professionalism, stressing that every employee had a role to play in building a responsive and service-oriented Ministry.
“The recognition of outstanding staff is not only a reward for good performance but an encouragement for others to strive for higher standards of service in the overall interest of the nation,” she said.
Olaniyi also called on personnel to embrace customer service as a collective responsibility, urging them to treat colleagues, stakeholders and members of the public with respect, courtesy and professionalism.
Earlier, the Director of Reform Coordination and Service Improvement, Mrs Ogidi-Paul I.H., fdc, said the award recipients had distinguished themselves through their dedication and commitment to excellent customer service in their respective roles.
She expressed appreciation to Olaniyi for her leadership, encouragement and support, which she said contributed significantly to the successful organisation of the 2026 Customer Service Week.
Ogidi-Paul also acknowledged the contributions of the Ministry’s management team, commending its support and participation throughout the week-long celebration.
The six staff members recognised at the event were Gaiya I. Reuben, Haruna Abdullahi, CPL Akawu Blessing Uweng, Usman Shuaibu, Abubakar Idris and Isah Gunduma.
The recipients expressed gratitude to the Ministry for the recognition, describing the gesture as an encouragement to sustain their commitment to effective service delivery.
