The Emir of Zazzau, Ambassador Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, has pledged the support of the traditional institution to the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) while calling for continued improvements in the administration of Hajj operations.
The Emir made the call when he paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NAHCON, Ambassador Ismail Abba Yusuf, at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja.
Bamalli commended the NAHCON leadership for its efforts to reform Hajj operations, describing the coordination of logistics for tens of thousands of Nigerian pilgrims as a major responsibility requiring dedication, transparency and strategic planning.
He stressed the importance of the traditional institution in mobilising and sensitising intending pilgrims ahead of the annual pilgrimage.
“Hajj is a significant spiritual journey, and the comfort, safety and well-being of our people while fulfilling this religious obligation must remain paramount,” the Emir said.
He urged the commission to sustain its efforts towards structural efficiency, early preparations and transparent communication to address recurring operational challenges.
Responding, the NAHCON chairman expressed appreciation to the Emir for the visit, describing it as a major morale booster for the commission’s management and staff.
Yusuf briefed the royal father on NAHCON’s latest policy frameworks, digital innovations and strategic partnerships aimed at reducing costs, improving accommodation and feeding arrangements, and streamlining the airlift of pilgrims.
He assured the Emir that the commission would consider the insights offered during the meeting, reaffirming NAHCON’s commitment to providing a world-class Hajj experience for Nigerian pilgrims.
