Troops of the Joint Task Force
North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA (JTF NW OPFY), have neutralised a terrorist, recovered an AK-47 rifle and ammunition, and rescued six kidnap victims in separate operations in Sokoto and Zamfara states.
The operations were conducted on Saturday, September 26, 2026, according to a statement by the Media Information Officer of the task force, Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, on Sunday.
In Sokoto State, troops of Sector 2 acted on credible intelligence about the presence of a suspected terrorist camp in Gudu Local Government Area.
The troops swiftly moved to the location and engaged an isolated terrorist, who was neutralised during the encounter.
Items recovered included an AK-47 rifle, ammunition, a foreign military uniform and various tools and clothing.
Similarly, in Zamfara State, troops responded to information about an attempted abduction of members of the Sarkin Samari family in Tsafe Local Government Area.
According to the statement, the troops arrived at the scene and engaged the terrorists with effective fire, forcing them to retreat into nearby bushes.
Six kidnap victims were subsequently rescued and moved to a safe location pending their reunification with their families.
The task force said the operations demonstrated the resolve and professionalism of its personnel in protecting lives and property across the North-West.
It urged residents to continue providing troops with credible and timely information on the activities of terrorists and other criminal elements in their communities.
